Mountain Moonshine Festival

DAWSONVILLE, GA -- The 36th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival will be held October 25th and 26th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.  This Festival explores Dawson County's history during the prohibition era when liquor was illegal and the Great Depression of the 1930's when running moonshine through the foothills of the Northeast Georgia Mountains was a way of life.

Thousands of tourist flock to the birthplace of NASCAR racing to hear about storied legends, Seay, Hall, Parks, and Gober Sosebee. These men loved the thrill of being chased through the ridges of the Northeast Georgia Mountains. 

Bring the family and visit an old Moonshine Still; listen to stories from both "Tripper's" and Revenuer's.  Festivities will start on Friday night October 24th, with a cruise-in at 6:00 PM till -? held at Thunder Road USA. (www.thunderroadusa.com)

On Saturday, the 25th, crafts, food and entertainment will begin at 8:00 a.m.  The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a well-known race car celebrity as Grand Marshall. 

StarBright will also be cooking their famous BBQ chicken.  Everyone says,    “It's the best!”  See over 100 1940's Ford vehicles lining the streets, including vintage racecars and their drivers.  There will also be a display of old tractors at Thunder Road.

Saturday, October 25th there will be a Festival Bicycle Tour starting at 10:00 a.m. It will actually be the beginning of the Parade. Leisurely ride (not a race) through the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain Range during the peak fall foliage season.  Contact Seth Hunt, 706-265-1760 for more information.

Sunday, October 26th - A Car Show will be held at Thunder Road USA, Georgia's Racing Hall of Fame. Hosted by the StarBright Foundation. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.   Judging starts at noon, with trophies being presented at 3:00 p.m.  

All proceeds from the Festival go to help the needy children in Dawson County.  For more information call 706-216-7827.
