Seminole County Harvest Festival

DONALSONVILLE, GA -- Donalsonville will celebrate its annual Harvest Festival, October 17 and 18, 2003.  The Donalsonville/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce in recognition of  its number one industry,    agriculture, sponsors this annual event.

Festivities will get underway on Friday, October 17, with the 2nd annual Harvest Festival Fiddling Contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.  There will be youth, intermediate and senior divisions of competition.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, who will be judged by a team of expert fiddlers.  In addition to the competitors, other fiddling and blue grass groups will perform during the evening.  The contest will take place on stage in the city park and food concessions will be available.  There is no admission charge. 

Saturday's activities include a parade, arts and crafts exhibit and sale, food concessions, children's activities; new and antique farm equipment displays, commercial exhibits and a carnival.  Continuous entertainment begins at 12:00 noon on stage in the city park featuring everything from gospel to rock and roll.

The 2nd annual Harvest Festival Car Show featuring customs, street rods, pick ups, classics and vintage will be held on Second Street in downtown Donalsonville.

Other festival events include the Peanut Recipe Contest, Merchants Street and Window Display Contests, Farm Tours and other agriculture related activities.

Donalsonville, Georgia is located in the extreme southwest corner of Georgia, just 9 miles from Florida and 13 miles from Alabama, at the intersection of Highway 91 and Highway 84.  The festival takes  place in historic downtown Donalsonville.  There is plenty of free parking and free admission to the festival.
