HOMERVILLE, GA -- Once again, for the 12th consecutive year, the Clinch County Chamber of Commerce in Homerville, Georgia welcomes everyone to the Timberland Jubilee Festival on Saturday, October 4, 2003. On the first Saturday in October each year they celebrate the Timber Industry in Clinch County. This is a day of fun and entertainment that draws the folks from Clinch and surrounding counties into Homerville. There will be a display of Timber Equipment, related timber exhibits and timber contests. Competition creates much excitement between the teams that participate in the contests and draws many spectators to watch the action. There are cash prizes and ribbons. You are invited to go on over and join them for this one-day only festival which annually attracts approximately 8,000 visitors. Each year they have over 125 vendors offering a wide variety of Arts and Crafts, Antiques, Collectibles and Fabulous food items. By 10:00 am, the grounds are teaming with the hustle of vendors and visitors. The sounds of music and the smell of all the great food fill the air. The day begins with a Fun Run. There is entertainment scheduled all during the day featuring local talent which includes individuals as well a church groups and youth groups. There are a variety of activities for kids including moon walk, pony rides, face painting, choo-choo train rides, fish ponds and much more. A cooking contest is featured with several different categories with cash prizes and ribbons. The Huxford Genealogi-cal Library, well known through out the area and located in the Municipal Building on the festival grounds, will be open for your convenience.
The finale of the day will be the Street Dance and Fire Works display. All this begins at 8:00 p.m. and like the best things in life, the dance is free to all - no admission. Homerville is located at the intersection of Hwy. 84 and 441, between Waycross and Valdosta, Georgia.
