CUSSETA, GA -- Celebrate the Sand Town Festival on October 8 & 9 as Chattahoochee County celebrates its 150th year. The Festival will be held in the Recreational and Industrial Park of the now consolidated Cusseta-Chattahoochee County and is sponsored by The Chattahoochee County Historical Preservation Society, a non-profit organization, with proceeds going to support local community groups/clubs.
Gates will open on Friday at 5:00 with entertainment on the stage starting at 6:00, then a Street Dance in the parking lot next to the Rec Center starting at 8:00 with Patrick Cobb and the Slaugther Creek Band till midnight. There will be food, beverages and arts & craft vendors opening at 5:00. Be present at 7:00 as the cooking contest starts off with KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society) judges deciding who makes the best Chili, Hot Wings & Dogs (sausage through bracworth). This event will be open to any one who would like to try their luck. There will be a $10 entry fee for each category, with cash prizes for the first three places in each category.
Saturday morning starts at 10:00 with Arts & Crafts, Food Vendors, Hot Air Balloon Rides, Carnival, pony rides and entertainment along with a flea market. The Motorcycle “Biker Event” will start at 11:00, then the Antique Tractor Parade will be at 12:00 noon with the tractors being on display for the remainder of the day.
The Sanctioned KCBS Barbecue Cooking Contest will start at 11:00 with cooking teams and KCBS certified judges from all over the southeastern part of the country.
