Located at the Elberton Fairgrounds on North Oliver Street in Elberton, the fair will run October 7-16. New rides to the Elberton Fair will be ready for operation on opening day, Thursday October 7 beginning at 5 p.m.
Additional entertainment will be brought to this year's event. Brand new to the fair will be The Living Treasures animal exhibits, which includes a giant snake exhibit. There will also be duck and miniature horse racing every night of the fair.
The Elberton 12-County Fair opens Thursday at 5 p.m. with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and a Chamber of Commerce Mixer for its members. A big fireworks show will close the first night at 10:30 p.m. Other fair highlights include two nights of bullriding on Friday and Saturday nights and two nights of Demolition Derby on each of the Friday nights. Applications are being accepted for the Days Inn Entertainment Stage. Local groups, churches, dance troupes and individuals are invited to showcase their talent. Call 706-283-7379 for more details.
Arts, crafts, home goods and canned products will be on hand. Exhibitors can receive award money for their goods.
Other events that will again be a part of this year's Elberton Fair include the 7th Annual Diaper Derby Babycrawling Contest, Market Lamb Shows, a Beef Cattle Show and a Rooster Crowing Contest.
