Warrenton is playing host to two major events, one in November, the other in December. The 14th Annual Sportsman's Family Festival will be held on November 10th, 2007 from 9:00 AM till 3:00 PM in downtown Warrenton. Take Exits 154 or 165 off I-20 and go south to Warrenton, then turn onto Main Street.
Everyone is invited to this day of fun and food that will cater especially for the Sportsman and his family. There will be plenty of things for the hunting and fishing enthusiasts with numerous hunting and fishing vendors and exhibitors. Other commercial vendors will the there for the ladies and of course there will be a carnival, pony rides and Smokey the Bear for the kids.
Troy Brazie, chainsaw artist, will be demonstrating his craft and selling his art. There will be a Veteran's Program; raffles and prizes; a turkey shoot and big buck contest; a gun seminar; the best festival food around; and much more, including a car cruise-in. So, join everyone in downtown Warrenton for a great time!
On December 6th from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM, will be the 5th Annual Hometown Christmas. All of the downtown shops and restaurants will be open with special sales and goodies. You can take a carriage ride or hay ride through the streets that are lined with luminaries. Roasting marshmallows or apple slices can be done on the street corners over special fires that will be in place.
There will be music in the air.... music that will be played in the courthouse on a grand piano. Restaurants will be lit by candlelight, giving the entire town a Colonial feeling. Santa will come riding in on a carriage and will stop in his shop to welcome the children. A live nativity on a church lawn will remind us all of what the season is all about. Don't forget to stop by the bakery or by the Garden Club's shop where they will be serving up cheese grits. It's truly like stepping back in time and a perfect way to begin the holiday season.
