18th Annual Taste of Alpharetta

Alpharetta, GA -- The City of Alpharetta announces the final schedule for the Culinary Arts Competition at the 18th Annual Taste of Alpharetta on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Old Milton Parkway at Wills Park.

Over 32 restaurants will compete at the Culinary Competition Tent. The public is invited to watch the gourmets go at it in the Culinary Arts Kitchen as part of the evening’s entertainment. CBS 46 restaurant correspondent, Adam Murphy, will emcee the chef’s competition with the winning restaurants announced at the festival’s Concert Stage at approximately 8:00 pm.

2008 Judges will be Atlanta Cuisine editor, Tom Maicon; freelance restaurant writer who contributes to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Helen Cauley; director of Salud! Cooking & Lifestyle School at Whole Foods Market, Ashley Brooke; and food writer, cooking show host, and food editor for North Fulton Living Magazine, Hans Rueffert. Assisting in the competition kitchen will be student volunteers from Salud! Cooking School, Whole Foods Market.

Over 65 restaurants will take part in the 18th Annual Taste of Alpharetta. Now the largest “Taste of” festival in the South, Taste of Alpharetta will enjoy a new dining row with picnic seating between the restaurants.

An estimated 70,000 foodies, families and festival- lovers are expected to turn out for the annual tradition, which will showcase area restaurants ranging from fine dining, to organic, to casual and fast food. The restaurants will serve up an amazing array of appetizers, entrees and desserts from their menus for just $1-3 per sample.

Admission, parking, and shuttles for the 18th Annual Taste of Alpharetta are free. Park and ride shuttle options will be available at Alpharetta City Hall (on South Main Street), Publix Super Market (on Old Milton Parkway at Haynes Bridge), Milton Center (the old Milton High School at Milton Avenue), Old Milton Parkway (Alpharetta Community Center at Old Milton Parkway).

Park and walk options available at the Wills Park Equestrian Center (on Wills Road) and Alpharetta Community Center (on Roswell Street).
