The Georgia edition of Southern Festivals, an arts and crafts trade publication, is in its 16th year of publication and focuses on the many diverse festivals and arts and crafts events occurring within the state.

The Peach State Edition is a 32-page tabloid newspaper published six times yearly. It is available via subscription and at welcome/visitor centers, chambers of commerce, convention and visitor bureaus, museums and arts and crafts businesses.

Two key sections of the publication are the Calendar of Events and the Map. The latter offers a guide to the location of festivals and events as well as their date and contact information.

The Hill Group purchased the Peach State Edition in December 2002.

“This is an exciting time for the arts and crafts industry,” Jimmy Hill, general manager/marketing, said. “Never before has there been as much interest in such events.”

“We hope to continue the success of the publication and continue to provide quality and timely news,” he added.

Hill also is the president of The Hill Group.

Gail Hill, vice president of The Hill Group, serves as publisher and editor of the publication.

Her involvement with the publication began two years ago when she took over as editor.

She has much experience with arts and crafts festivals, as she previously served as a city clerk where she oversaw events the town sponsored. Hill also owned an arts and crafts business, which led her to exhibit in may festivals herself.

“All those years of dealing with everyone involved with festivals, from sponsors to the vendors of the shows, have been very enjoyable,” she said.

“With her experience and love of arts and crafts, Gail is a perfect fit to oversee publication of the ‘Peach State’ edition of Southern Festivals,” Jimmy Hill said.

The Hill Group specializes in helping businesses grow and prosper through team building, strategic planning, time management, business management, leadership development sessions and humorist/motivational speaking. The company also manages trade groups and associations.

From the Publisher - Gail Hill

Well, summer has arrived with the hot and dry weather that we have become accustomed to here in the South. Gas prices are soaring and many people are deciding to stay close to home instead of going away on vacation this summer. If you are staying around home, look for a festival in you area to attend. There are many fun and entertaining festivals within an hour’s drive of your home.

Here at Southern Festivals, we are so excited about taking our responsibility of “Promoting Family Entertainment And Tourism In Georgia” to new heights.

Everyone is working towards a year filled with great festivals, fairs and special family events throughout Georgia. We are actively seeking out Antiques Dealers, Bed & Breakfast Establishments, RV Parks and other Special Events that would like to advertise in Southern Festivals Newspaper.

The deadlines for the papers are as follows:

Jan/Feb 2008 - Dec 1

Mar/Apr 2008 - Feb 1

May/June 2008- April 1

July/Aug 2008 - June 1

Sept/Oct 2008 - Aug 1

Nov/Dec 2008 - Oct 1

We print 12,000 newspapers every issue. Our newspapers go to all of the Georgia Visitor Centers, the Welcome Centers, most of the Chambers of Commerce and to subscribers in Georgia and other states. Our papers are at every point in which an Interstate enters Georgia, and Georgia has a lot of Interstates.

We always welcome information about upcoming festivals, celebrations and other events that occur all over the Southeast. These items may be sent to us anytime by phone, fax or e-mail. We would like to receive as much information over the Internet as possible. Any Ads or pictures that are sent via e-mail should be sent in a pdf or jpeg format for PC, if at all possible. All pictures must have a cut line for identification purposes. Press Releases should be 200 to 300 words.

When running an Ad, we give you more exposure than just the advertisement. In addition to the Ad, we will run an article with a picture; put your information in the Calendar of Events; put your event on the Map, give you a listing on our website and make a link from our website to yours through the Calendar Listing.

For any questions, comments or advertising information, please contact me. All of my contact information is listed above and I look forward to hearing from you.
